BOLLYWOOD THEMED TENT PROVING A HIT FOR UNIQUE MARQUEE FIRM
Brides-to-be are flocking to a unique marquee company for decadent backdrops for their special day.
The Arabian Tent Company specialises in creating themed tents and interiors for all types of events, but this year demand for their work at weddings – and particularly their Bollywood interior ‘Bombay Boudoir’ – has outstripped any other occasion.
Managing Director Katherine Hudson, who designs and manufactures all the tents from scratch, believes the ladies’ desire to give their wedding its own identity is behind the surge in demand.
She said: “Women are increasingly departing from tradition for their weddings and they are bored of seeing the typical rouched or pleated cream backdrops.
“Fashion is also playing its part and the Bombay Boudoir is extremely popular, thanks to the likes of celebrities Shilpa Shetty and Liz Hurley.
“Thousands of mirrors sewn into the walls and ceiling combine with the fabulously pink and orange interior to create a giant glitter-ball when the disco lights come on – it’s a unique experience!”
While Katherine can create a bespoke marquee to suit the occasion – each with its own co-ordinated furnishings including sofas, stools and cushions – clients are free to choose one of the tents she has already produced.
These cover a wide range of themes, from the ivory-based Cornish Cream to a burlesque Moulin Rouge tent – a miniature version of which was recently chosen for a garden party by TV host Davina McCall!
Katherine said: “There are so many beautiful interiors to choose from that brides are alleviating difficult decisions by picking several and having multiple ‘rooms’ at their wedding!
“Some have been used as ‘chill-out’ areas, additional space for bars, or somewhere quieter for older guests to sit.”
