The moral dilemma of a Wrapit finalist Posted by Function Junction on 11th April 2009
Wedding list company, Wrapit, first sponsored their wedding industry awards in 2007. In 2008 they introduced an entertainment category, and leading entertainment agency Function Junction were keen to enter, in order to showcase their top quality customer service. What appealed to Function Junction about these awards was that they would be based on feedback received from actual customers, and that they were backed by blue-chip names in the industry, Wedgwood and Brides Magazine.
Wedding music specialist Function Junction first reached the South regional final, and then went on to the national final. Although they didn’t win the award (which went to an individual function band) Function Junction were delighted to have reached the final. Wrapit actually e-mailed Function Junction the 78 responses they had received from Function Junction customers – you can read them on the Function Junction website – which are a certainly a great independent endorsement of Function Junction’s excellent level of customer service.
Function Junction were as shocked as everyone else last July when they heard that Wrapit had gone into administration leaving a lot of justifiably unhappy customers. News stories of angry brides picketing Wrapit shops were hardly great publicity for their award winners!
Function Junction felt enormous sympathy for the brides, grooms and wedding guests who had been let down so badly by Wrapit, and immediately removed the “Wrapit Awards Finalist” banner from their website, which might be misinterpreted as an endorsement of Wrapit themselves. But what of the 78 Function Junction customers who had submitted their comments in good faith? After some heart-searching, Function Junction decided that, along with the other finalists and award winners, the customer comments still held true, and were therefore still worth including on their website.
Though not in any way detracting from the distress caused by Wrapit’s demise, the last few months of economic and financial turmoil have put what happened to Wrapit into a larger context. Now, more than ever, couples booking their wedding music need to be able to trust their supplier, and with their top levels of customer satisfaction – independently confirmed by the Wrapit Award testimonials - Function Junction believe that they should be first stop for any couples looking for top bands for their wedding entertainment.
